Zeffy or Mindful Give?
Zeffy is free for charities. It’s paid for by a contribution it suggests to each donor at checkout. Mindful Give charges a published fee instead, and adds a Quick Tap for giving in person.
Who pays
A suggested tip, or a published fee.
Zeffy says it “relies entirely on optional tips from your donors.” At checkout, donors see a contribution to Zeffy with a suggested amount. They can lower it to $0, and the charity can’t change its wording or amounts.
Mindful Give’s fee is on our pricing page and comes out of your payouts. Donors aren’t asked to tip us. They can choose to cover your fee, with a box that starts unticked, so your charity receives the full gift.
In person
A volunteer’s phone, or a Quick Tap.
Zeffy’s in-person giving is its Tap-to-Pay app on a phone: an iPhone XS or later, or an Android phone with NFC. In its own words, “We don’t currently offer the possibility to connect an external card reader to Zeffy.”
A Quick Tap stands on its own, by the door, on a table or in a basket. Donors choose an amount on the screen and tap, and a first-time donor gives their email right there for the tax receipt.

Receipts
One a year, or one for every gift.
Both issue tax receipts in your charity’s name. Zeffy gives monthly donors a single cumulative receipt after the year ends. Mindful Give emails a receipt for every gift, monthly ones included, and donors can download a year-end summary from their account.

Questions
What charities ask
Is Zeffy really free?
For the charity, yes. Zeffy says it covers the processing fees and that you “receive 100% of every payment, regardless of whether donors add a contribution.” It’s paid for by the contributions donors choose to add. With Mindful Give, a $100 online gift costs your charity $3.90, or nothing if the donor covers the fee.
Why pay a fee when Zeffy is free?
If online forms are all you need, Zeffy costs your charity nothing. Charities choose Mindful Give for a Quick Tap that takes gifts in person without a volunteer’s phone, a receipt for every gift, donors who aren’t asked to tip, and a team that sets it up with you.
Can Zeffy take taps without a phone?
Not today. Zeffy’s in-person giving runs on its Tap-to-Pay phone app, and it says it doesn’t offer a way to connect an external card reader.
Do monthly donors get a receipt for each gift?
With Mindful Give, yes: one for each gift as it happens, plus a year-end summary in their account. Zeffy sends monthly donors one cumulative receipt after the year ends.
