CanadaHelps or Mindful Give?
CanadaHelps is a registered charity that collects gifts for other charities and passes them on, with its own name on the receipt. Mindful Give works for your charity directly: receipts in your name, gifts in your own account, and a Quick Tap for giving in person.
The receipt
Whose name is on your donor’s receipt?
On CanadaHelps, the donor is technically giving to CanadaHelps, which passes the gift on. Its policy says the tax receipt “is legally issued by CanadaHelps,” under its own registration number. Receipts for its ticketed events are the exception: those are issued in the charity’s name.
With Mindful Give, every receipt is issued in your charity’s registered name, with your registration number and your authorized signature, and emailed for you.
Your donors
Whose donor is it?
A gift through CanadaHelps is a gift to CanadaHelps, which passes it on to you. Monthly giving there is set up in a CanadaHelps account, and signing up asks only for an email and a password, with no box about its emails. Account holders can then hear from CanadaHelps about other charities and its own funds.
With Mindful Give, your donors give to you, and every email they get from us is about your charity: their receipt, their thank-you, an invitation to give monthly. We never ask them to give anywhere else.
The money
Where the gift goes first.
CanadaHelps holds donations for the charity and sends them weekly by bank transfer, or once a year by check to charities not set up for transfers.
With Mindful Give, every gift goes into your charity’s own account, in your charity’s name, and Mindful Give never holds it. Each month we send the balance to your bank account, after the month’s fees.
In person
Giving at the door, not just online.
CanadaHelps has no in-person giving option, as of September 2026: no card reader, kiosk or tap to give.
Mindful Give adds a Quick Tap: donors choose an amount on the screen, tap a card or phone, and are offered a tax receipt by email.

Side by side
CanadaHelps fees are its standard rates; it has different rates for different setups. Details are from its fees page, client agreement and donation delivery policy, September 2026. Tell us if something has changed.
Questions
What charities ask
Can we keep our CanadaHelps page?
Yes. Some donors find charities on CanadaHelps, and nothing stops you keeping that page. Use Mindful Give for your own giving page and your Quick Taps, with receipts in your name.
Does CanadaHelps have tap to give?
No. As of September 2026, CanadaHelps has no in-person giving option: no card reader, kiosk or tap to give.
Does CanadaHelps work for charities in the United States?
No. CanadaHelps accepts donations only for charities registered with the CRA and other CRA qualified donees, and not for charities outside Canada.
How do we switch?
Talk to us. We set up your account with you, fill in your charity’s details from the public charity registry, and ship your Quick Taps.
